Student volunteers show kids how to have fun and be healthy!
Bucharest, May 9, 2014: For the fourth consecutive year, May is a special month for the Romanian programme “SETS I’m living healthy, too!” as it is the beginning of the SETS open lessons run by volunteers and students of the Universities of Physical Education and Sport in Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca.
The open lessons organized by PRAIS Foundation as part of its SETS national movement aim to encourage primary school children to adopt a balanced nutrition, practice daily exercise or play sports, and to be inspired by young athletes.
Schools from two major cities in Romania - Bucharest and Cluj Napoca - are part of the SETS open lessons programme. During these lessons, pupils are informed about the benefits of balanced nutrition and they are engaged in sports demonstrations and physical activity games.
The students that volunteer are a powerful and motivating example for children, showing them the importance of having fun while doing physical activity and allowing them to understand that doing sports and active play is an exciting way to spend their free time.
"Through the open lessons, SETS national movement aims to encourage primary school children and their families to have an active lifestyle. For over four years, UNEFS teachers and students are an essential part of this alliance of values, getting voluntarily involved, in a consistent and enthusiastic way, in transmitting to the children all the necessary skills to achieve an active and healthy lifestyle," said Silvia Bucur president of the Foundation PRAIS and SETS initiator.
The Romanian SETS movement is proud to be part of the EPODE International Network – EIN, the largest global obesity prevention network.
